Setting up a business is stressful. There’s no way getting around it, it just is. Life in general can also be stressful whatever you are up to. Everybody’s lives are so busy, we all have so much going on and it’s really important to set aside time to take care of yourself and give yourself a little TLC. I’m still learning how to counter balance the stress of grown up (eek, it’s official) living, but here are some of my hero products that definitely help.
I am obsessed with mists and spritzes. I love how in one spray you can instantly feel refreshed and revived. You can get all sorts of ones, even just the water mists are great, I love them all. This one (Olivine Atelier Love + Roses Beauty Mist) is lovely because it’s full of rose oil which is good for stress and exhaustion. It smells gorgeous!
Ever since I was little my mama used to spray my pillow with lavender and I have always just found it really soothing. It definitely has elements of grandma about it, but if it helps to get you off to a great night’s sleep, who cares? There are lots of different kinds and you can spend a fortune but in my humble opinion a lavender pillow spray is a lavender pillow spray if you get my drift.
Any excuse for a bath. There is nothing more stress busting than a hot, bubbly, gorgeous soothing bath. I love soaking until my skin turns prune like and the water is luke warm. Bubbles are a must, and I love the lush bath bombs but to be honest I am yet to meet a bubble bath I didn’t like. I love the ones you can get for aching muscles and if I can feel a cold coming on, I absolutely love the olbas oil ones.
I’m a bit of a scented candle hoarder, I have so many and I love them all. They can just change the whole feel of a room and can instantly lift your mood. If I am feeling stressed, lighting a lovely smelly candle and taking a few deep breaths definitely help me to chill out and relax a little.
I find if I am having a stressful time, drinking my usual cups of coffee can end up making me feel a lot worse. I am quite sensitive to caffeine, and I know a lot of other people have the same problem. So instead I switch to herbal teas and my favourite one is the liquorice and mint which I drink all the time and just love. I am not even a liquorice fan, aniseed doesnt do it for me – but this doesnt taste like that, there is a just a faint hint of sweetness which is just delicious.
When you’re feeling stressed it is really important to look after your skin. It’s the first place my body starts to show stress – and a little bit of pampering never hurt anyone. I love face masks and always try to do one on a Sunday evening to refresh my skin before the busy week ahead starts. I don’t tend to use expensive skin care on the whole but whilst this face mask from Eve Lom is pricey, it is so worth it. It’s super gentle on your skin, leaves you feeling so fresh and lovely and it lasts a long time too.
What are the products you can’t live without? Leave me a comment below, I would love to know xx
