Sipsmith is opening London’s first 100 Martini bar – offering 100 different types of Martini all in the old-school elegance of Kettner’s historic Apartment. This is not one to miss, but miss it you may if you blink, as it’s only on for 3 days a week for three weeks.
Did you just think all Martini’s were born equal? Oh think again friend, think again. Yes Martini’s are all united in being made up of Gin and Vermouth, but the variations are limitless..well nearly, there are about 100. Don’t believe how different all the Martini’s can taste, well you don’t need to take my word for it, you can head over to Soho and see for yourself!
Book your tickets here. And no before you ask I haven’t been paid to tell you about this, I was just lucky enough to go to the preview last night and sampled some of the goodies on offer and couldn’t wait to tell you about it!
I’ve been a fan of Sipsmith ever since they began, never before Sipsmith would I have dared to sip Gin neat, but the Sipsmith Gin is so delicious in it’s own right, you almost don’t need to bother with the tonic! So the announcement of a Sipsmith Martini bar was definitely something to get excited about! Right, so sipping sessions are by reservation only, so make sure you book. Tickets are £12 which includes a Martini of your choice. On the night, you will enter Kettner’s by a secret side entrance on Greek Street which will make you feel part of the Boardwalk Empire crew. You will then be given an ipad with an interactive menu to help you choose from the 100 Martini options on offer. Then, sit back and prepare to be impressed by the skills involved in preparing your Martini as the bartender gets to work stirring, shaking and throwing!
The impressive and unbelievably extensive menu has been put together by Jared Brown, the Sipsmith Master Distiller and I can tell you there is not a single thing about Gin that Jared doesn’t know. He will be around on the evenings to chat to and a better advocate of the Martini you could not find!
We were treated to six of the Martini’s on offer…yes this morning has been a slow one. Forgive the quality of the photos but after six Martini’s the blurriest of photos can sometimes appear clear.
Here are just a few photos of some of the amazing drinks on offer – all I can say is that from what I tasted, you won’t be disappointed and it should be a really great night!
The Enrico Caruso’s Martini. This consists of Sipsmith London Dry Gin with just a dash of absinthe
The Millionaire’s Martini – topped with champagne daaarling. Utterly delicious.
Some much needed snacks which will be available on the night too. Moreishly good ham, delicious cheese, salty nuts, ice cold olives and boozed seeped smoked salmon. We demolished ours, as you can imagine!
The man himself, Jared Brown, if you see him on the night, definitely have a chat!
Um…a big red horn. At the time I thought this was a really arty photo that summed up the old-school class of The Apartment. Now it just looks like a big red horn. But I still think it’s cool.
Jared demonstrating some serious skills with the champagne…
The Original Martini – from 1888. 50:50 Sweet Vermouth with a dash of orange bitters and absinthe and topped with a cherry. This was insanely good, seriously delicious, and in the most adorable glasses which I NEED for my house!
Vodka Perfect, from 1934, dry and sweet vermouth. The only one we tasted which wasn’t gin and even though I am a gin girl through and through, everyone agreed this was scrummy!
So many Martini’s, so little time! Now excuse me I’m off to find a large glass of water for my little sore head.
