The other day I made a rather delicious discovery…The Banana Tree.
Because of Nana Nice Cream I think everyone thinks I am obsessed with all things banana, and whilst that is partially true, The Banana Tree is great in it’s own right. There a few dotted around London – hopefully there will be one near you. Relaxed and friendly, this is the perfect place for a well deserved mid week supper. I also saw several Deliveroo drivers dipping in and out, so fingers crossed one of these is in your catchment area.
The Banana Tree serves a sort of delicious IndoChinese cuisine. Lots of things on the menu jump out at you and you feel it’s the sort of place you can’t really make a bad choice. They’ve pulled together all the best of Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian and Singaporean dishes and put them all together in one scrumptious place.
We probably over ordered but that was only because I felt I had a duty to you all to taste test as many dishes as I could. So really it was a selfless act. The fact that it was incredibly lip lickingly delicious is really neither here nor there…I did it for you.
First things first I need to tell you about the chicken satay. You must order it. I genuinely think it might be the best I have ever tasted…
Oh and did I mention the wings? Honestly, silence descended on the table as we fought to eat as quickly as possible so that we could get our (more than) fair share. The definition of finger looking good. There were also some seriously good steamed prawn dumplings which disappeared rather quickly.
Then we followed this with crispy BBQ duck which melted in the mouth
and a ridiculously good sweet and sour chicken with sticky rice alongside steamed veggies which were great but not that photogenic
It was a feast, and a seriously delicious one at that. If you are looking for a great mid week food spot which won’t break the bank, then look no further – the Banana Tree is definitely worth a visit.
