This weekend I had the very great privilege to make a wedding cake for one of my most special friends.
Being the one to design and bake a wedding cake is always such a huge responsibility, but I love both weddings and baking cakes, so I jumped right in!
I’m really lucky to be able to say that I’ve been commissioned to make a bunch of beautiful wedding cakes this year, and it’s something I realised that I want to start doing much more often.
If you have an upcoming wedding do get in touch, and I’d love to see what we can create together!
I also got to be a bridesmaid for this wedding. It was absolutely lovely, but it meant I had to sneak off on the morning of the wedding with curlers in my hair to assemble the cake! Definitely not my normal cake making attire thats for sure, but a funny sight for anyone who caught a glimpse.
The bride loves carrot cake, so I made a three tier carrot cake with a classic cream cheese frosting. Naked wedding cakes may be all the rage right now, but I think it’s more than just a trend. They look so gorgeous and pretty, especially when decorated with roses, eucalyptus leaves, and gypsophila like this one.
During the afternoon, I overheard someone gobbling the cake declaring it to to be the best carrot cake they’ve ever had. It’s was such a HUGE compliment (especially since my boyfriend was walking around pretending I’d ruined it by forgetting to add sugar!) and definitely one that went to my head for the rest of the celebration!
It was the loveliest weekend, and a rare occasion to get to be there for the cake cutting!
