The other week I popped off to Peru for lunch.
I wish. That really would be the dream, but we went to Lima Floral and it really is the next best thing.
One of my great friends has just got engaged so we thought it was the perfect excuse to go out for lunch.
The menu reflects all the goodness that Peru has to offer. The menu is seasonal, fresh and most importantly….delicious. All the dishes were heartbreakingly beautiful and looked almost too good to eat. Almost.
They offer a great set menu at lunch time during the week and also early evening, where you can grab yourself a real bargain. Three courses for less than £20. Quick, you have to go! Check here to find out more.
I absolutely love this kind of food, so fresh, healthy and seriously delicious.
We kicked things off with purple bread. Purple potato bread. Pretty awesome. I had to taste some, and a delicious cooling dipping sauce. It set things off to a cracking start.
Whilst we were deciding what to order we opted for two Pisco Sours. After all, when in Rome…/Peru….
It was a celebration after all! But wowzers, those things are strong…dangerous for a lunch time.
We opted to for the Salmon Ceviche and the Cobia Fish Tiradito to start with. Both dishes were different sorts of ceviche…so not a lot of choice, but luckily I love ceviche!
The salmon ceviche came with avocado, tree tomato and tigers milk. So pretty and so delicious! Creamy, crunchy and a perfect hint of spice.
The cobia fish tiradito came with crunchy onion, a deliciously vibrant sauce and cuzco corn crisps.
Both were so good. We shared them and there was more than a little clashing of forks.
But then it was on to the mains.
Chicken with sweet potato and radish for me. So good I tried to eat it so quickly that I wouldn’t have to give Struan any….
Luckily, he loved his Black Hake with salsa verde and asparagus with sweet potato crisps, and wasn’t interested in sharing either. Phew
Struan will kill me for this photo but this is how happy he is about his engagement….
He also happens to be a top butcher. Pop by Provenance Butchers and say hi.
I really recommend Lima Floral and can’t wait to go back. Seriously delicious, and a really lovely lunch spot. I also have a feeling it would be cracking in the evening, and would be a great spot for a date or for a fun filled evening with friends.
Their website is here: http://www.limafloral.com, and you’ll find them nestled in Covent Garden.
