A few weeks ago I experienced my first breakfast at the Ritz. And boy was it worth the wait.
When my mama announced that she and my step-dad would be staying there for a night whilst their bedroom was being redecorated, I promptly invited myself to breakfast. Obvs.
I think my step-dad thought I was joking, but I never joke about breakfast. Or the Ritz.
So I trotted off bright and early to meet them. I wish all days could start with breakfasts like this.
So, first thing to point out is that this is not a cheap breakfast. The buffet costs £35 and if you want the buffet and something off the menu it will set you back £40. So…obviously go for the latter option as you get a cooked option for only an extra £5. As far as I am aware there is no time limit or limit to the number of times you can go up….so settle in and get down to some serious breakfast business! We most certainly did.
It may sound pricey, but everything was delicious, and there is no more beautiful setting in London. The Ritz is such a special place, I think the price tag is justified. This is a the perfect place for a special treat.
I ordered the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and then we descended on the buffet.
Let’s take a walk around and I can show you what’s on offer…
Towers of freshly baked muffins, and pastries…
With a hint of fruit – so they are good for you, right? I think that’s how that works.
Cocktail glasses filled with rice pudding and bircher muesli.
Hard boiled eggs. My new obsession! These duck eggs were pretty special
Goblets, vases and every vessel available filled with cereals of all kinds…oh and some pretty hefty flowers
Baskets of beautiful breads, including gluten free options 🙂
We made our choices and then it was time to tuck in!
The smoked salmon was incredible, I would really recommend ordering it. Smoked salmon and scrambled egg has to be one of the best breakfasts
But then it was time for some cheese. Naturally. I also got obsessed with this cheese cutter..I know what I’m getting pretty much everyone in my family for Christmas…Was so happy to see Comté, which is one of my absolute faves.
At first I thought these were beautiful little sea creatures or something, but no. They are curls of cheese. Obsessed.
And after the cheese, came the breakfast pudding. A muffin which was sweet, sticky and surprisingly light. Banana bread which was heavenly and all washed down with…a banana. Because banana
I think the plates alone are worth the visit. Too pretty! I should have snapped some pictures of the room itself as it is stunning, but I was too consumed by the food. Surprise Surprise. But I guess that’s worked out well because now you have a beautiful surprise in store.
Breakfast at the Ritz is a lovely treat. As a born and bred Londoner, I can’t believe that’s the first time I’ve breakfasted at the Ritz, but all I know now is that it won’t be the last time, that’s for sure.
Now I’m planning my next trip…I’m thinking afternoon tea.
